The Ghost Riders were originally formed in 1996 to compete in the Drum Corps
Associate’s “Mini Corps” Competition. Since then, this group of dedicated
members has been entertaining audiences throughout the North Eastern United
States with their own distinct blend of Drum Corps Music.
Along the way, not only have the Ghost Riders won the New York State
American Legion Crown, they have also won the prestigious DCA Mini Corps
World Championship. The Ghost Riders have competed in 11 consecutive
championships, and have been in contention every year, certainly a tribute
to their desire to always strive for the best possible performance every
time out.
Besides performing at parades, concerts and corporate functions
throughout Western New York, the Ghost Riders have also performed at various
events such as past Mighty St. Joe’s Classics in Rochester, the North
Tonawanda Canal Fest, Harrisburg "Serenade in Brass" after concert party and
the America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration in Plymouth, Mass.
In September of 2006, the Ghost Riders had the distinct honor of being
the only Drum Corps from the United States invited to perform at the
prestigious International Marine Tattoo held in Rochester, NY. This event
included bands, drill teams and musical ensembles from Great Britain, Canada
and the United States.
The Corps co-directors are Doug Mellenthine and Rod Keppel. Joey Pero
handles the musical arranging & instruction. The working guard and visuals
are by the “Renaissance Guard” of Buffalo.
